This research aims to find out the type of figurative language used in Aladdin (2019) soundtrack song lyrics and to describe the contextual meaning of the figurative language used in that song. The study used qualitative research methodology in analyzing and interpreting the data. Further, the theories used in this analysis were the theories of figurative language theories of semantics. The data source of this research was the Aladdin soundtrack. The data were taken from two Aladdin soundtrack song lyrics, A Whole New World and Speechless. Through the finding of the analysis, there were 20 data on figurative language. And from all data of figurative language, there were six types of context that influence the use of contextual meaning, they are context of person, context of place, context of time, context of formality, context of mood and context of subject-matter of the figurative language in Aladdin (2019) soundtrack song lyrics. The researcher expects this research will be useful for other researchers who are eager to know more about semantics, especially on analyzing figurative language and contextual meaning.
