This research examined the idiomatic expressions in the song lyrics of a singer named Brian Imanuel Soewarno or often called Rich Brian from his album entitled Amen. The purpose of this research was to determine the types and characteristics of idioms in the song lyrics in the album. From that statement, the problems studied in this research were: What are the types and characteristics of idiomatic expressions in Rich Brian's song lyrics from the album Amen? Therefore, the types and characteristics of idioms would be reviewed. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, which is based on the theory of Bieber et al (2007) and Langlotz (2006) relating idiomatic expressions. The results showed if there were 48 idioms used in the songs on the album Amen. In interpreting the meaning of the idioms obtained, the researcher found 2 characteristics of idioms that were compositional idioms and non-compositional idioms with the dominant characteristic are noncompositional idioms. The researcher also found 4 types of idioms used, that were, phrasal verbs idiom, prepositional verbs idiom, phrasal-prepositional verbs idioms, and free combinational idioms. Related to this, the researcher can be implied that Rich Brian in his album Amen used idioms to express actions, order, feelings, or emotions, whether the meaning of the words that compose it is positive or negative. Sometimes, not all idioms which literally have a negative meaning will have a negative meaning because the meaning of the idiom can be changed into a positive meaning and vice versa.
