Moral Value in the Novel "Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window" Relating to Students' Character-Building Value in Indonesia's Curriculum
This thesis is concerned with the investigation. of the moral values in the novel " Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window " and furthermore the result will be connected to the students• character-building in Indonesia Curriculum An understanding of morality is very important for everyone, especially for students in primary school. The reality involved with in society which showed a lot of criminality happens every day and it is a warning for parents to control their children. The aims of this study are; (I) To find out the moral values that are reflected in the novel “Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window” and (2) To find out which moral values in this novel related to students' character building in Indonesian curriculum. The qualitative research design was used in this study to make a clear explanation of the moral values reflected in this novel. The main instrument of this study is the researcher himself. The findings revealed that in the novel reflected 4 moral values and 12 aspects from Kinnier et.al Theory (2000). Meanwhile, from those 4 moral values and 12 aspects, they were related to 17 students' character building which expected to be owned through the curriculum.
