The purpose of this study was to find out the types of code mixing and the reasons of using it by an English Teacher in Bangen Tawai English Course. It classifies the the Code Mixing utterances into three types: Insertion, Alternation, and Congruent Lexicalization based on Muysken’s theory. Moreover, the design of this study was descriptive qualitative. As what a research needs to be completed, the subject of this study is an English teacher at Bangen Tawai English Course. Then, in collecting research data, The Researcher used observation and interview as the research instrument. As the results of this study that have been found. There were three types of code mixing found during the process of teaching and learning; Insertion, Alternation, and Congruent lexicalization. Firstly the types of Code Mixing, there were forty-three case of Insertion, and forty-two case of Alternation and there were only three case of Congruent Lexicalization. Secondly, based on Hoffman’s theory the reasons of Code Mixing is used by the teacher is because of the real Lexical, Repetition use for Clarification and Interjection.
