This study was conducted to find lexical cohesion in BBC sports news and the function of lexical cohesion found in BBC sports news. This research utilizes qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The object of this research is three texts taken from BBC sports news (1) Cristiano Ronaldo: Captain's armband thrown away in Serbia match sells at auction for more than £50,000 (2) Euro 2020: Five people arrested over racist abuse of England players (3) Euro 2020: Five people arrested over racist abuse of England players. The data were analyzed by using the qualitative descriptive method, selecting, classifying and describing. The result showed all types of lexical cohesion found in three analyzed texts, 26 reiterations and 3 collocation and the function is to inform and to tell the meaning of the text and to avoid misunderstanding in reading the text.
