The present study aims to find out the correlation between writing anxiety and students’ writing performance. The design of this study was a quantitative research design. The population of this study was 95 students of sixth-semester students of the English Education Department of Mulawarman University. The sample was 76 students recruited by Slovin’s formula. In this study, the researcher used two instruments to collect the data. The instruments were the Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory questionnaire and argumentative essay. The results of the instruments were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The first findings showed that the writing anxiety of students was at a high level where the mean score was (68.42). Meanwhile, the writing performance of students was in a fair category with a mean score was (60.01). It was shown that there was no correlation between writing anxiety and students’ writing performance of the sixth semester in the English Department at Mulawarman University academic years 2020/2021. It can be concluded that a high level of writing anxiety did not influence the students' writing performance.
