The purpose of this study were : (1) to describe Extensive Reading work in class and outside the classroom to help students reach the idea of learning materials; (2) to investigate students’ perceived impact of extensive reading course of their language learning program at the fifth semester student in English department of Mulawarman University. This study was qualitative research. The design of this study used qualitative descriptive design in a form of case study. As the main source, the data were collected from interview with four respondents from two different classes who had taken an extensive reading course, and document analysis as the confirmation data to support the triangulation. This study reveals that extensive reading built students’ awareness of reading both in class and outside the classroom until it turns into habit of reading more, as well as students’ perceptions of suitable extensive reading courses with extensive reading characteristics. The results of the study indicate that Extensive Reading can be accepted by students. During the extensive reading program for one semester it can be concluded that the perceived impact by students show a good response to extensive reading program work in and outside the classroom.
