The purposes of this study were: (1) to know the reading performance of the sixth-semester students of the English Department of Mulawarman University; (2) to know the writing performance of the sixth-semester students of English Department of Mulawarman University; (3) to know the correlation between reading performance and writing performance of the sixth-semester students of English Department of Mulawarman University.
The samples of the study were 50 students in the sixth semester. The answers to the problems of the study were analyzed by using Pearson product-moment analysis in SPSS 25 Program.
This study revealed the following findings: first, it was found that the mean score of the reading performance was 6.22. Among 50 students, most of them classified as High. Second, it was found that the mean score of the writing performance was 6.74. Among 50 students, most of them classified as High. Third, there was a positive correlation between reading performance and writing performance with the result r =0.739 and there was a significant correlation between student’s reading performance and writing performance of sixth-semester students of English Department at Mulawarman University. This means students who got high score in their internet usage level did not automatically get high score in the writing performance test, and vice versa.The hypothesis result was, (Ha) of this study was accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected means that there was a significant correlation between reading performance and writing performance.
