Student’s Perception Toward Teacher Corrective Feedback In Teaching Writing of The Fourth Semester Students’ of English Department of Muawarman University in Academic Years 2018/2019

The purposes of the study were to find out what is the students’ percep-tions toward teacher corrective feedback in teaching writing. The design of this study was Quantitative design. The subjects of this study were thirty students of English Department of Mulawarman University in Academic Years 2019/2020. In this study, the researcher used SPSS 21 to analyze students’ perceptions. The finding of this study showed students’ perceptions, the results showed that lectur-er written feedback is very understandable 73.3% (N = 22) most students can easi-ly understand the written feedback given by their teacher. The result showed that students perceived their lecturer’s written corrective feedback positively as it is revealed that 73.33% (N=22) of the students proved their lecturer’s feedback as objective and fair. Regarding the type of feedback students liked, it was showed that 70% (N = 21) students chose direct feedback. The findings also showed that students perceived their lecturer’s feedback as useful to help them improving their writing text quality (83.3%, N=25) and English skill, especially in grammatical ar-ea (90%, N=27). In addition, it is found that 76.7% of students did not feel stressed out for having feedback from their lecturer. It also did not discourage them to improve their writing skill. Therefore, it can be stated that students need to have lecturer’s corrective feedback to improve their writing skill. However, it is suggested for the lecturer to consider students’ cognitive level and find a feed-back management that is not time consuming such as online revising. For other researchers, the researcher suggests to conduct more research that focused on a different level of subjects.
