This research is aimed to find out slangs in four albums of Bruno Mars song lyrics. The research design of this study was content analysis research using qualitative method. In this study, the theory of Algeo (2009) was used to analyze the formation process of each slangs. The researcher analyzed 30 songs in four albums in Bruno Mars song lyrics. There are three research questions: (1) how many slangs are used in song lyrics by Bruno Mars, (2) what are the types of slangs found in song lyrics by Bruno Mars, and (3) what are the dominant slangs found in song lyrics by Bruno Mars. The data were document analysis, the researcher tried to find and identity the slang word in lyric by marking, finding and analyzing the slangs. The result of the research showed that from 12 slangs, only 7 process of slangs-word formation appear in the lyrics. There were 168 slangs in four albums by Bruno Mars. 7 type of slangs found were clipping with 56 slangs, coignage with 55 slangs, borrowing with 2 slangs, compounding with 4 slangs, blending with 43 slangs, acronyms with 1 slang, and multiple processes with 7 slang. Then each of slangs had meaning. Clipping: cause meant because; coignage: minks meant being cool; borrowing: fellas meant friend; compounding: penthouse meant a place you will never live; blending: tryna meant trying to; acronyms: pimp meant Person Into Marketing Prostitutes; and multiple processes: shinin’ meant show off. The last is the dominant slang that found in this research is clipping.
