Background: Fungi are microorganisms that are saprophytic and can be found anywhere on the human body, in a state that infects human it is called Candidiasis. There are cases of Candidiasis in the oral cavity with predominant Candida albicans with 45% in neonates, 45-65% children, 30-45% adults and 90% in acute leukemia patients and 95% in HIV pantients. Dewa Leaves (Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC.) is a plant that is often used by public as a traditional medicine for various diseases, such as fever, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and skin disease. In Dewa Leaves plants, there are several active compounds that act as antifungal as Flavanoid, Alkaloid, Saponin, Tanin, dan Atsiri oil. Objective: To determine the antifungal effect of the Ethanol Extract of Daun Leaves (Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC.) on the growth of Candida albicans using the Kirby Bauer method. Method: This research design was a post test only control group design using the Disc Diffusion test (Kirby Bauer test). This study used Candida albicans fungi treated with ethanol extract of Dewa Leaves (Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC.) with concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 20%. Repetition done 5 times. Result: The results showed that the ethanol extract of Daun Leaves (Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC.) did not form an inhibition zone around the paper disc on the growth of the fungal Candida albicans at all concentrations. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Dewa Leaves (Gynura pseudochina (Lour.) DC.) did not have an antifungal effect on the growth of Candida albicans using the Kirby Bauer method.
