The Correlation between Students' Strategies in Developing Speaking Ability and Students' Speaking Achievement at Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 10 Samarinda
The objectives of this research are to know the most frequently used learning strategy by students, to know the students’ speaking achievement, and to find out the correlation between students’ speaking strategies and students’ speaking achievement. The researcher used the quantitative approach and applied correlation research design. The research was conducted to eleventh grade students SMAN 10 Samarinda. The subjects were 50 students from two classes. The data were collected through questionnaire of SILL by Oxford and students speaking test. The data were processed and analyzed through SPSS 25 by using product moment correlation. The result showed that the most frequently used strategy was cognitive strategy (20%), the mean score of students’ speaking achievement was 90.78 which categorized as good, there was a significant correlation between students’ speaking strategies and students’ speaking achievement where p value 0.000 < 0.01.
