As a global language, English becomes the most popular language in the world especially in Indonesia. Crotty (1998) says it is not easy to teach English in the countries which make English as Foreign Language (EFL). An appropriate strategy is needed to make the teaching-learning proccess be successful. Moreover, the English teacher must faced some problems in delivering the teaching materials in learning process. Khajloo (2013) explains the common problems that teachers face in teaching problems are; low hours of English language teaching, lack of interest and motivation and lack of concentration in class. The purposes of this study were to find out the problems of teaching English by the English as Foreign Language teacher and, they ways of her to solve them. This research used qualitative as research methodology which the results of this study would be described through words. Moreover, in collecting the data the researcher used interview as research instrument. The subject of this research is one of English as foreign language (EFL) teachers at SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda. In fact, weak understanding and lack of motivation of the students were the problem of the English teacher in delivering her teaching material. It occured because students do not have basic knowledge and they do not have any interest in learning English. Furthermore, in solving her teaching problems, the English teacher started to adapt with the condition of the class by changing the teaching style and strategy. She chose to separate the class into two groups. The first group was for those who have the basic and the second for those who do not. She did it in order to make the low students would not loss their motivation (not able to follow the lesson) and the high students would not be bored due to the repetiton. Second strategy that English teacher did was giving the real tasks and examples. She did it because she thinks by using this strategy the students will be more responsible in their lesson.
