The title underlying of this study was deixis analysis in Lecturer’s talk at English Department of Mulawarman University. The aims of this study were to know types of deixis are found in a lecturer’s talk and to know the purpose of using deixis in a lecturer’s talk.
This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of the research was the Lecturer at English Department of Mulawarman University. The technique of
collecting data used by the researcher was recording and interview. After collecting the data, the data were analyzed through some stages, transcribing the recorded data into written data, classifying the data based on the types of deixis, giving codes for each datum, analyzing the data and interview the subject to answer the research problems.

The findings of this research showed all of the types of deixis applied by the lecturer. The most types of deixis obtained in teaching learning process were person deixis. There were five purposes of using deixis based on lecturer’s interview: a. as the deictic center of the speaker and listener, b. as time span, c. as a spatial location relatively, d. as refers to social relations or social differences, e. as text reffering expression. The implication of the research was to make the leccturer explanation can be understood well by the students and made the various languages of the lecturer.
