The purpose of this study was to know the correlation between reading habit and the English achievement of the third grade students of SMP N 22 Samarinda. The method used in this research was a quantitative research. The sample of this study consisted of 90 participants of the third grade students of SMP N 22 Samarinda. The samples were selected through purposive sampling technique. Questionnaire of reading habit were used as the instrument of this research and also score of English of the students was collected from the teacher. Reading habit questionnaire was given to the students to know their reading habit score. Then, score of English achievement was collected from the teacher to identify their English achievement. The result of questionnaire showed that the mean score of students’ reading habit was 68.42 and it fell into a moderate category. The mean score of the students’ English achievement was 80.17 and it fell into an excellent category. Then, Pearson’s Product Moment Formulas was used to analyze the correlation between reading habit and English achievement with the help of SPSS Version 23. The result showed that r-count was -0.200 and r-table was 0.207. It means that r-value was lower than r-table, Ha was rejected and Ho was accepted. There was no significant correlation between reading habit and English achievement. It implies that although students’ reading habit was moderate, but their score of English achievement was good. The factors that influenced this condition were most of students do not have awareness about the importance of reading habit, they like to read for pleasure, and they always read books in their free time.
