The Class Struggle in The Maze Runner Novel by James Dashner
Social class differences still become the topic that frequently brought in the novel. This research focuses on the social class differences in The Maze Runner novel which brought class struggle elements inside. The purposes of this research were to describe the social class differences and the class struggle movements from the characters who are living in the novel. The researcher uses Karl Marx and Engels’s theory of social class and class struggle to indicate the differences and class struggle in the novel. To analysis the thesis, the researcher uses Miles and Huberman’s qualitative descriptive method and data analysis. The source of data of this thesis is The Maze Runner novel, and the forms of the data were the narration, conversation, or action that the characters have in the novel. The conclusions of this thesis which the researcher found were first, there are two social class differences described by the Gladers and WICKED in the novel, which are the Gladers described the Proletariat while WICKED described the Bourgeoisie. Second, the class struggle from the Gladers against WICKED described by the characters from the novel who awakened their consciousness and have a will against WICKED.
