Keyword: Types of Illocutionary Acts, Direct and Indirect In this study, the researcher discussed the illocutionary acts used in Donald Trump’s speeches. The objectives of this study were to find out the types of illocutionary acts and how it conveyed in the speech. The researcher conducted descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research was Donald Trump’s victory speech and inauguration speech, whereas the object was illocutionary acts.
The researcher used flow diagram of analysis to collect the data. The result of thisresearch shows that expressive illocutionary acts were frequently used by Donald Trump to expressed his feelings towards the American especially to his supporters. Another tyes used by Donald Trump is representative acts followed by, commissiveacts, directive acts and declarative act. Furthermore, Donald Trump often conveyed the illocutionary acts directly then indirectly. Meanwhile, representative illocutionary acts were the mostly used in inauguration speech to show that he is knowledgeable. Donald Trump also used commissive acts, expressive act, directive acts and declarative acts. Moreover, Donald Trump also conveyed the illocutionary act directly then indirectly. Hence, Donald Trump is blatantly when he delivered the speeches.
