A movie is one of the literary works that basically adapted from a play or a novel. The Blind Side movie is chosen to be analyzed in this study because it was based on true story and also lots of lesson in life would be found. To support the analysis of the main character in this movie, the writer uses hierarchy of needs theory by Abraham Maslow that stands in five stages. This study is aimed to find all of the needs that he needs to fulfill and it drew Michael Oher’s character when all his needs have been fulfilled. Also to find the most dominant character of Michael Oher as the main character in some particular needs.
The method that is used by the writer is descriptive qualitative. The data of this study are analyzed with the hierarchy of needs theory. In the process of analyzing all of those data, the writer has some procedures that include watching the movie for several times, reading the movie script, then analyzing and understanding the dialogue that reflected the needs of the main character. The result of this study shows that self-esteem needs and love and belonging needs are the factors that make Michael Oher protect people around him. Oher also could fulfill all of his needs from the lowest stage that begins with physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, self-esteem needs, and the last is selfactualization needs. Regarding to all of his needs that has already fulfilled, his character also change from a silent boy to someone who can express himself in sport and become one of the players that has a big influence to the team.
