The objective of this study was to find out the kinds of error and the most dominant type of errors made by the eleventh grade students of SMK Farmasi Samarinda in writing narrative text focused on simple past tense. The classification of errors in this study is divided into four categories; they areomission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The sample of this studywas 20 students of eleventh grade of senior high school. The instruments usedin this research was student’s writing narrative text. The method used in thisstudy was quantitative design to describe students’ errors. The findingsshowed that the type of errors in writing narrative text made by students areomission (27.3%), addition (8.0%), misformation (61.0%), and misordering (3.7%). The most dominant type of errors in writing narrative text made bystudents is misformation (61.0%). Based on the finding, it can be suggestedthat the teacher should explain the irregular verb clearly to the students andmake sure the students understood about it. The teacher has to be creative inteaching writing, so it make them interest to study more. And the teacherought to motivate her students to be more relax in learning English, tell them that English is easy to learn and do not be afraid to make mistake, because it is a process to reach a success.
