THE INFLUENCE OF ANXIETY TOWARD STUDENT'S SPEAKING ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT SMA NABIL HUSEIN SAMARINDA

The aims of this research are to find out the students’ anxiety toward students’ speaking English achievement and the differences among the first, second and third grades. There were one hundred and thirteen
students in three classes as a sample of this study by stratified random sampling. The data were collected by using the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale questionnaire and speaking test. T-test and oneway
anova are the analysis technique. The result of the data showed that the students’ anxiety influenced students’ speaking English achievement in the three classes level (first, second and third grades). Furthermore, the finding showed that students’ anxiety and student’s speaking English achievement did not differ from among first, second and third grades. As others studies, this study also found that anxiety gives negative impact to English learners in three classes level. This study is a preliminary research and should be explored more for further research related to the same topic.
