The tittle underlying this study is the The Process of Teaching Story Telling by The English Teacher of Second Year Students SMA NEGERI 6 Samarinda 2017/2018. The main purposes of this study are to know how the English teacher plans the lesson before teaching story telling material and the process of teaching English by the English teacher of second year students of SMA Negeri 6 Samarinda 2017/2018. The design of this study is qualitative. The focuses of the study were how the English teacher plans before teaching story telling material and the process of teaching English. Interview was used to know how the English teacher plans the lesson and the observation was used to know how the process of teaching story telling. The subject of this study was a male English Teacher of second year students of SMA Negeri 6 Samarinda. In this study, to analyze the data, the researcher used three concurrent flows activity by Miles and Huberman , they were data reduction, data display and conclusion. Triangulation used in this research was data triangulation.
The findings of this study were the English teacher followed syllabus and lesson plan that teacher made based on the KTSP. Hence, in the process of teaching the teacher used three phasees: Opening phase, While teaching phase and closing phase. In the process of teaching, the teacher used one material to teach story telling material in three meetings. There are problems in the teacher plans was the teacher does not adding media , the teacher does not use method in the process and problem in the process of teachingwas the students become overly dependent on teacher or dominated by teacher, persistentuse of first language. As result the students become passive in the process of learning. From the result above, it is suggested to English teacher can use some media and used method in the process of teaching and for other researcher teacher can focus between correlation lesson plan and the result leaning process or completeness with adding opinion students. It will hopefully be the guidance to do research with similar topic or different aspects of English to investigate this field.
