The purposes of this study were: (1) to find out the self resilience of theseventh grade students of SMP Negeri 29 Samarinda in the 2017/2018 academicyear; (2) to find out the vocabulary achievement of the seventh grade students ofSMP Negeri 29 Samarinda in the 2017/2018 academic year; (3) to find out thecorrelation between self resilience and vocabulary achievement of the seventhgrade students of SMP Negeri 29 Samarinda in the 2017/2018 academic year.
This study used quantitative method with correlation design. The subjects of thisstudy were 52 students and were selected using cluster random sampling. The datawere collected by using self resilience questionnaire and vocabulary achievementtest. To find out the significant correlation between self resilience and vocabularyachievement, Pearson’s product moment formula was used to analyze the data.
The findings of this study showed that: (1) The students’ score of self resiliencewas good (72,78); (2) The students’ score of vocabulary achievement wasmoderate (52.19); (3) The correlation between self resilience and vocabularyachievement of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 29 Samarinda in the2017/2018 Academic Year was 0.322. The critical value of the Pearson with 5%significant level was .0273. It means that the correlation between the two variables above were positive correlation and significant.
